Washington, D.C. – Congressman Cleo Fields is deeply concerned by the decision made by the newly confirmed Treasury Secretary and acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Scott Bessent, to immediately halt the work of the CFPB.

It has been widely reported that under the direction of Secretary Bessent, department staff were instructed not to move forward with issuing public communication, settling enforcement action, or issuing and approving rules of guidance.

Baton Rouge, LA – Congressman Cleo Fields celebrates the U.S. National Science Foundation’s E-Core program awarding approximately $8 million to the Louisiana Board of Regents over a multi-year period. This award is in collaboration with Southern University and A&M College, Louisiana State University and A&M College, Louisiana Tech University, and the University of New Orleans.

Baton Rouge, LA – As severe winter weather sweeps through Louisiana, Congressman Cleo Fields is urging constituents to prioritize their safety and stay off the roadways. Road conditions are expected to worsen rapidly as up to 8-10 inches of snow accumulates across Louisiana, and ice predicted to develop later this evening. Hazardous conditions will persist for many hours after the snowfall ends. The Louisiana Department of Transportation (DOTD) has closed certain interstate sites as a precautionary measure.
