Committee Assignments

House Financial Services Committee

The House Financial Services Committee oversees all components of the nation’s housing and financial services sectors including banking, insurance, real estate, public and assisted housing, and securities. The Committee continually reviews the laws and programs relating to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Reserve Bank, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and international development and finance agencies such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The Committee also ensures enforcement of housing and consumer protection laws such as the U.S. Housing Act, the Truth In Lending Act, the Housing and Community Development Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, and financial privacy laws.

Subcommittees

Subcommittee on Capital Markets

This Financial Services subcommittee reviews laws and programs related to the U.S. capital markets, the securities industry, and government-sponsored enterprises, such as Fannie Mae (Federal National Mortgage Association) and Freddie Mac (Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation). 

Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy

This subcommittee oversees individuals' access to financial services and the safety of the banking system, all financial regulators, including the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Federal Reserve, as well as all matters relating to consumer credit including the Consumer Credit Protection Act.

Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations

The jurisdiction of this subcommittee includes conducting research and investigations as well as overseeing all agencies, departments, programs, matters within the jurisdiction of the larger Financial Services Committee.

Congressional Black Caucus

Since its establishment in 1971, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has been committed to using the full Constitutional power, statutory authority, and financial resources of the federal government to ensure that African Americans and other marginalized communities in the United States have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream.

Congressional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Caucus - Co-Chair

The Congressional DEI is comprised of members working to protect workers’ rights, amplify and protect Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, raise awareness to legislators about the importance of embracing diversity.

Congressional Historic Black Colleges and Universities Caucus

The Caucus works to promote and protect the interests of HBCUs by creating a national dialogue, educating Members of Congress and their staffs about the issues impacting HBCUs, drafting meaningful bipartisan legislation to address the needs of HBCUs, and supporting students and graduates of HBCUs by increasing access and career opportunities. The Caucus is bipartisan and bicameral, with over 100 members.

Congressional Get The Lead Out Caucus

This Caucus will pursue every possible avenue to get lead out of our water once and for all. We support efforts to ensure clean, affordable drinking water for every American, and bringing communities together from around the country to unite around clean water as a human right.
