While I am cautiously optimistic following this morning’s hearing, we must remain vigilant and committed to defending the principles enshrined in Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Washington, DC – Congressman Fields (LA-06) joined colleagues in urging congressional leadership to take immediate action on long-term reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). In a letter to Chairman Hill and Ranking Member Waters of the House Financial Services Committee, Congressman Fields emphasized that NFIP is a lifeline for homeowners, small businesses, and entire communities across Louisiana and the nation who are vulnerable to flooding.

Baton Rouge, LA – Congressman Cleo Fields (LA-06) sent a formal letter to the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem expressing deep concern over recent reports of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducting enforcement operations while wearing masks and failing to identify themselves as federal law enforcement officers.
In the letter, Congressman Fields outlined how these practices raise serious safety concerns for both ICE officers and the public.
Washington, DC – Today the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1, President Trump’s so called “One Big Beautiful Bill”, by a margin of 218 to 214. Congressman Fields (LA-06) joined every House Democrat in voting against the largest cut to healthcare and food assistance in American history.
Washington, DC – Today, the Supreme Court announced that Louisiana v. Callais, a case regarding Louisiana’s congressional map that was approved by the Louisiana legislature, will be reargued during the Supreme Court’s next term, beginning in October.
The congressional map in question was first enacted by the state legislature in January 2024, and is a direct result of bipartisan collaboration across party and racial lines.
“I have been consistent in my belief that America should not be entangled in the Iran-Israel conflict. The recent news of U.S. air strikes only deepens our involvement in a war that does not serve the best interests of the American people. Our priority should be diplomacy and de-escalation. We must focus on the pressing needs of our citizens here at home. We cannot afford to be drawn into yet another endless conflict.”
Washington, DC – Today Kearra Grisby, the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District was welcomed to the Capitol by Congressman Fields. Kearra, who recently graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge, was accompanied by her mother Latreace Grisby and her grandmother Sandra Moore.
